Good morning Class 3 laugh

Can you believe it is Friday already? Let's pray for some lovely weather for over the weekend yes

Here is an emoji code breaker to start off the day...

Would you like to suggest a code for next week? Let us know and we will put it on the page!

Here are your tasks for today:

WRITING

For your writing activity, we are going to be using our knowledge of our history topic - The Bronze Age. Everything you need to know is in the document below:

Don't rush - you have a week to do it (until 10th April) so that means best handwriting! We would love to see the finished work and maybe even add it to our class page. Why don't you take a photo to send in or you could even type it up if you want to practise your computer skills too!

READING (ACTIVE LEARN)

You should continue to read up to one book per day on Active Learn (approximately 20 minutes) and don't forget to answer the comprehension questions too!

TIMES TABLE ROCKSTARS

You should continue to log on to TTRockstars and complete 15 minutes of times table practise.

And of course for that extra maths challenge, you can continue to work through 'Mathsphere'

Have a lovely day and a lovely weekend too! laugh

Wednesday 1st April

Good morning Class 3!
Here is your emoji code breaker to get you started! It’s a tricky one today…!

APRIL FOOLS! laugh

Thank you for the fantastic science work you completed yesterday, we really enjoyed seeing the practical activities using shadows – it’s so much better when we can do hands on learning! yes

It was great to see most of you managed to access the science game on Purple Mash. For the few who had issues, I think this is down to the game requiring ‘Flash Player’ in order to work. You also need to make sure there is no ‘pop up blocker’ as this sometimes stops the game from opening. Hope this helps, but let us know if this doesn’t work!

Anyway… here are your tasks for today!

MATHS

Adding fractions with the same denominator

As a starter activity please complete Activity 1 and 2 on the document below - for added challenge you can also complete Activity 3...

Then watch the video below up to 1 minute 10 seconds. (Please don't watch further than this as we don't want you to simplify your answers!)
Then complete the questions in the document below. If you can't print these out, it would be a good idea to draw the circles yourself to help with the addition and subtractions smiley

I have also added some more maths activities from 'Mathsphere' below, which you can complete throughout the week.

E-SAFETY

Mrs Pawson has added an E-Safety activity for you to complete on Purple Mash. Check your '2do' section and have fun!

Try some extra maths work by clicking on the Mathsphere document below:

We hope you enjoy the activities set today and have a wonderful day.

Tuesday 31st March 2020

Good morning Class 3 laugh

Can you believe it's the last day of March already? We hope there's going to be some more sunny days in April!

Here's a code breaker challenge to get your brains ready for learning today:

And here's the rest of your tasks for today:

SCIENCE

We are still learning about our topic of ‘Light’ and our learning objective for this week is:

I can explain how shadows are formed

Have a look at the Power Point below to introduce you to the topic and then watch the video link to learn more about shadows (it’s a fun video and will help if you choose to do some practical work too!)

Your task: On Purple Mash you should complete the ‘Shadow Game’ on your 2do list.

Here are some practical ideas for how you can explore this objective (Don’t forget to send in photos if you do – I’d love to see them!):

  • Create your own puppet show and perform it for your family!
  • Use a torch to create shadows using different objects. Draw around the shadows. What shape are they?
  • Use chalk outside to draw round someone’s shadow. Can you colour it in? Does it change at different times of the day?

Most importantly – HAVE FUN!

SPELLINGS

Keep practising your spelling words for this week. Here are some different ways you can practise your spelling words:

  • Make the spelling words using magnetic letter/foam letters/scrabble pieces.
  • Rewrite the words in rainbow colours. E.g. m o n k e y
  • Type them on the computer.
  • Use small beads, Cheerios or other small items.
  • Pyramid write your spelling words in your exercise book.
  • Practise writing your spelling words in your neatest handwriting.
  • Look, say, cover, write, check.
  • Make a wordsearch with your spelling words.
  • Chalk it!
  • Make word cards with your spelling words on.

We can't wait to see what you get up to today yes

And if you want to see what we are getting up to, make sure you check out the Teacher Blog!

Good morning Year 3 laugh

We hope you have had a lovely weekend at home with your families. Don't forget to check on the Teacher Blog to see what we have been up to!

We have already added some examples of your work to the class page too - keep sending them in because we love to see how hard you are working yes

And speaking of work, here are your tasks for the day:

SPELLINGS

Our new spelling pattern this week is:

'Homophones and near homophones'

Do you know what a 'homophone' is? Well, if not, you're about to find out!

Take a look at the PowerPoint below to find out which words you should learn this week...

Then you can have a go at the matching activity (above). You can either print and cut out the activity, or you could even draw it out yourself!

Have a lovely day!
