Welcome to Class Two!

Our class teacher is Mrs Doyle and our teaching assistant is Mrs Marshall. Mrs Marshall will cover Mrs Doyle’s PPA time on Tuesday afternoons, teaching PE and Music. Mrs Watson will cover Mrs Doyle’s ECT (Early Career Teacher) time on Thursday afternoons, teaching Art and PSHE.

We are going to have a fantastic year together, filled with lots of exciting opportunities, new experiences and plenty of things to enjoy along the way. It will certainly be a busy year as we explore lots of different topics, learn new things and take part in a range of extra-curricular activities.

We are really looking forward to everything the year ahead has in store for us!

Please see below our reminders for Class Two:

• Homework will be given out each Tuesday and is due in on the following Monday. Your child will be given a plastic folder for their homework, which should be kept in there and returned to school each week. Please ensure that the homework folder is returned each Monday, as we are only able to issue the following week's homework when the folder has been returned. Thank you for your support with this.

• Spelling will be given out as a booklet each half term. A spelling test will take place each Friday, and each week’s spellings are dated, so you and your child can work through them together.

• KIRFs (Key Instant Recall Facts) will be sent home at the beginning of each half term. These are short, age-appropriate maths facts for the children to practise regularly at home. They are designed to help children become more confident and fluent with key mathematical facts. At the end of each half term, we will complete a short check in school to see how the children are progressing. This is a low-pressure check and is simply used to help us see what the children know and what they may need a little more practice with.

• PE lessons will take place on Tuesday afternoons with Mrs Marshall and Friday mornings with Mrs Doyle. Please send your child to school in their PE kit on both of these days.

• Your child is expected to read at least three times per week, which should be recorded in their reading record. Once we have completed a phonics assessment, your child will be given a phonics book and a book for pleasure which they have chosen to read alongside it.

• Reading books will usually be changed once a week. The reading bag will also be used to send home any letters, forms or other information during the week, so please check your child’s bag regularly.

• Reading bags will be provided for your child to bring their reading books and reading record to and from school each day. Please make sure the bag, books and reading record are kept safely together and that the bag comes back to school each day.
