SIAMS Reports

“Inspired by Jesus' example and teachings, Stretton St Matthew’s vision empowers all to flourish and share their light with others.” (SIAMS, 2024)

The school was inspected on 23rd May 2024

The inspection focuses on our Christian vision, values and the theology that underpins them. It also looks at to what extent our vision and values allow all of our children to flourish and be treated well and cared for in our school. It judges the extent to which we develop our pupils’ understanding of fairness and inequality and their ability to challenge injustice. It looks at how we enrich the children’s learning providing opportunities to develop them spiritually, morally, culturally and academically. It also specifically inspects the delivery and impact of our Collective Worship and Religious Education.

May I first highlight that Mr Dean, the lead inspector, commented on what a delightful day he had during his visit. He was extremely impressed by the children’s behaviour and their engagement with his questions as well as their work ethic during his visits to classrooms. I felt incredibly proud to be Headteacher here as we visited each class and as Mr Dean participated in our worship in the morning.

I would urge you to read the whole report but I would like to highlight some of the key findings:

“Inspired by Jesus' example and teachings, Stretton St Matthew’s vision empowers all to flourish and share their light with others.”

“Pupils are encouraged to strive for their best and pursue their ambitions. A full and rich curriculum nurtures them, regardless of background, to achieve their fullest potential. This is also aligned with the trust vision of experiencing ‘life in all its fullness’.”

“Programs and interventions are in place to support pupils, including the vulnerable. These ensure they receive the additional help they need to succeed. This exemplifies leader’s commitment to inclusivity and high standards. This comprehensive, compassionate approach ensures that members of Stretton St Matthew’s community thrive.”

“The quality of RE is a priority for school leaders who strive for excellence. The RE curriculum at St Matthew’s is highly effective. RE is regarded as a core subject, with dedicated curriculum time and well supported teachers delivering lessons.”

“Effective learning experiences are supported by a wealth of enrichment activities. Clubs such as mindfulness, cooking, sports, and choir contribute to spiritual growth as well as a sense of belonging. This prepares pupils for life beyond St Matthew’s, ensuring they are well-rounded, respectful individuals.”
