Friday 12th June, 2020

Good morning Class 1! It's Friday and nearly the weekend!

Thank you so much for all your hard work this week.

It is great seeing all your hard work on Purplemash and lovely to see your other  work too! Thank you.

So today is Friday, so time for a 'big write'. As I said earlier in the week, your writing for the next three weeks will be based around writing instructions. If you managed to make the Rice Crispy cakes then the

instructions might be slightly easier for you to write but if you didn't don't worry.

The work you did on Purplemash will help too.

So here is today's work! Have fun and try your very best!

Love from Mrs Craddock, Mrs Darnton and Mrs Stow smiley

MATHS

Yesterday you counted in pairs to find amounts. Today you are going to be counting in groups of 10. Watch the song below first and then have a go of answering as many questions as you can on the worksheets below. This work will help you get really good with your ten times table.

The Counting in Tens Song

WRITINGTASK

Today I would like you to write a set of instructions about how to make Rice Crispy cakes. If you've made them, then this should be a little easier, but if you didn't manage that then go back and look at your Purplemash activity from Tuesday which shows you pictures of each step. You will need a title, an ingredients list, an equipment list (what you need) and a set of instructions (a method.) You might have added a finishing touch too like mini eggs.

Read through the Powerpoint below first and then use the word mat with imperative verbs below to help. There is also a sheet for you to write your instructions on or you could just use the same headings and write them in your book.

Try to use numbers for each new instruction and words like first, next, after that, then and finally might help too. Don't forget to use capital letters and full stops and use your best joined handwriting too. Read out your work to someone to check it makes sense.

Here is the right order for your Rice Crispy cakes. 🙂👍

How To Make Rice Crispy Cakes

This word mat with imperative (bossy) verbs will help.

Use this to help you to write your instructions.

TIMES TABLE ROCKSTARS

Have a go of your 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Try Daily 10 or Hit the Button too.

ONLINE  READING AND READING REAL BOOKS

Finally, make sure that today you set some time aside to read one of your Active Learn reading books or you can use the reading resources below or a real book. Don't forget there are sometimes questions there too to make sure you've understood the book. Do this for at least 15 minutes daily.

Please be aware that we may not allocate you any more books on Active Learn once you have completed your library. This is because there are a limited number of books per book band. Please access the Collins Big Cat reading resources, Oxford Owl online books or your own books from home. Thank you!smiley

ACTIVE LEARN 'TOP TIPS'

We are very impressed that you are enjoying lots of reading on Active Learn

(as well as your own real books at home) - Well done!

We are monitoring the use of Active Learn daily and updating book allocations regularly.

We have noticed that some children have several books 'open' but not 'completed'.

In order to complete a book, you have to complete all of the comprehension questions within the text. These are found by clicking on the small green bug icon - they appear on occasional pages. Once you have completed the question/s correctly, the bug will 'Go to sleep'.

You can then complete the book, 'Close It' and then 'Rate It' with a smiley, 'o.k' or sad face.

We will then continue to allocate new books as you complete your books and they move into your 'Library'.

We thought it would help to explain this to you, as some parents have been wondering why their child hasn't had any new books this week.

Keep enjoying the wonderful world of books! xx

Thursday 11th June, 2020

Good morning Class 1 and a happy Thursday to you all!

Thank you so much for all your hard work and thank you for sending in the lovely pictures of your Rice Crispy cakes. They look yummy and it is so nice to see such happy pictures of you! We are really missing you!

Here is today's work. The grammar work will really help when you are writing your instructions on Friday.

Good luck and have a great day!

Love from Mrs Craddock, Mrs Darnton and Mrs Stow. smiley

GRAMMAR/PURPLEMASH

First today we are going to be learning about imperative verbs. That sound like a very fancy word but it is just the proper word for bossy verbs (or doing words.) We will need some of these to write our instructions tomorrow. To begin with, I would like you to watch the following video:

Imperative Verbs

.

Now I would like you to complete the Purplemash to-do task which is all about putting instructions in the right order. (Brushing your teeth.) Once you have done this, how many imperative (bossy) verbs can you find from the video and the to-do task? Can you write them down? The sheet below might give you some clues.

MATHS

Today we are going to carry on learning about multiplying and times tables. Today we are finding out how to count in 2s to work out an answer. Watch the Powerpoint and then work through the sheets. It gets harder as you go through so just do as much as you can.

Read this first!

Wednesday 10th June, 2020

Dear Class 1. A big good morning to you all.

Hope you are enjoying the work so far this week. It seems to be flying by!

Don't forget to get those report comments to us as soon as possible.

We really appreciate your hard work with this.

Here is today's work. Try your best and enjoy!

Love from Mrs Craddock, Mrs Darnton and Mrs Stow smiley

PURPLEMASH/MATHS

Your first activity today is on Purplemash. Look on your to dos and you will find two fun games to practise your number skills. The games are called 'Bubbles' and 'A-fish-metic'. Have fun!

GRAMMAR

Your next activity today is another grammar quiz, number 4, which is below! Try your best and good luck!

E-SAFETY

Your e-safety task today is on Purplemash in your to dos. You need to complete a poster by answering the questions on the left. Use the information you have learned about e-safety. We can't wait to see what you've learned. The activity is called 'Making Choices.'

Tuesday 9th June, 2020

Good morning Class 1!

We hope you had a great day yesterday and that you soon got back into the swing of things!

Thank you Teddy for sending in the wonderful pictures of the letter you sent to the Prime Minister and the letter you received back from him. What a kind thought to send him a get well soon letter and how exciting to get a reply! We have uploaded the pictures onto our 'work from home' page for you all to share.

Another example of how kind and thoughtful you all are in our lovely class!

A quick reminder that your report reviews that were to be completed for your writing home learning need to be completed and either emailed into school through your home learning emails or dropped off at school. Also, don't forget that they need to be on the template we gave to you and not just on blank paper or in your exercise books.

This will be a great help to us and will enable us to complete your reports.

So, here is your work for today...

Love from Mrs Craddock, Mrs Darnton and Mrs Stow smiley

PURPLEMASH

Today I would like you to begin this lesson by watching the following videoclip on how to make chocolate Rice Crispy cakes. If there is any possibility between now and Friday for you to make them WITH AN ADULT then that would be amazing. Your writing on Friday will be to write a set of instructions for this so if you make them it will make your writing easier! (Grown ups - there is no pressure to do this and the writing can be done without it but it would be amazing if you did manage to do this.)

After you have watched the video, I would like you to log on to Purplemash and complete the to-do activity which is to put the pictures of how to make Rice Crispy cakes in the correct order.

GRAMMAR

This week we are looking at exclamation sentences. Today I would like you to look at all the sentences on the cards below. Not all of them need an exclamation mark. Decide which ones do and then write them out in your best cursive handwriting. Watch the videoclip first and then complete the activity in your books or on paper.

The Exclamation sentences Song!

MATHS

This week in maths we are concentrating on multiplying. Watch the videoclips first and then have a go of answering the questions from the booklet below. You have two days to complete pages 1 -6 of the booklet. (Don't do the division work.) Please finish this today!

.

Monday 8th June, 2020

Good morning Class 1 and a big welcome back to all of you!

We've missed you but hope you've had a lovely, restful Whit holiday and we hope you've enjoyed the lovely weather. It's a shame that it has gone cold and rainy but hopefully it will warm up again soon!

After a lovely break, we hope you are ready for a new half term and for the work we will be setting for you.

Here is today's work. Try to get back into working and try your best. We'll give you a gentle start...

Love from Mrs Craddock, Mrs Darnton and Mrs Stow smiley

PURPLEMASH

Your first activity today is in your to dos on Purplemash. You need to learn the words below first, and then try the quiz on Purplemash. The words all have the ph/wh sound.

GRAMMAR

This week we are looking at exclamation sentences. Today I would like you to have a go of ending some simple sentences using an exclamation mark to end the sentence. Watch the videoclip first and then complete the activity on the sheet or in your books. If you have time, you can try writing some of the sentences out in your best, joined handwriting.

Spelling list ph/wh - learn these first
