Friday 10th July, 2020

Its "Fabulous Friday" everybody!

We hope you have all had a wonderful week so far...

This is our last day of working on question marks and shapes for now...

Have a wonderful day everyone and we hope you have a fantastic weekend too!

Love from Mrs Darnton, Mrs Craddock & Mrs Stow and of course Mrs Ames & Mrs Platt xx heart heart

Here are your activities...

TIMES TABLES

Begin your day by warming up your brain. Have a go of Rockstars, Daily 10 or Hit the Button. Good luck!

MATHS

We are continuing with our work on shape.

Below are some different activities based on 3D shape and their properties.

Can you find any of these 3D shapes in your home?

Good Luck!

WRITING TASK

Now that you are amazing at recognising and using question marks, I'd like you to show me your brilliant skills in your own independent writing.

Please can you write at least 5 questions that you would like to find out about your teachers. You could ask us, your Year 1 teachers, you could ask your new Year 2 teachers for September, Miss Hill & Mrs Platt or you could choose any other member of staff in school. Think carefully about what you would like to find out!

Remember, you must use capital letters at the start of sentences and for proper nouns, you must include clear finger spaces between words, do it in your most beautiful cursive handwriting and of MOST IMPORTANCE remember to include the question mark at the end of your question.

Is this an easy task or a tricky task? Are you up to the challenge?

Good luck wonderful writers! yes laugh

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES: Here are some extra activities that you might like to do either today or over the weekend. A brilliant 'Learning Log' and some lovely, positive colouring in sheets. Keep those fine motor skills working hard!

ONLINE  READING AND READING REAL BOOKS

Finally, make sure that today you set some time aside to read one of your Active Learn reading books or you can use the reading resources below or a real book. Don't forget there are sometimes questions there too to make sure you've understood the book. Do this for at least 15 minutes daily.

Please be aware that we may not allocate you any more books on Active Learn once you have completed your library. This is because there are a limited number of books per book band. Please access the Collins Big Cat reading resources, Oxford Owl online books or your own books from home. Thank you!

ACTIVE LEARN 'TOP TIPS'

We are very impressed that you are enjoying lots of reading on Active Learn

(as well as your own real books at home) - Well done!

We are monitoring the use of Active Learn daily and updating book allocations regularly.

We have noticed that some children have several books 'open' but not 'completed'.

In order to complete a book, you have to complete all of the comprehension questions within the text. These are found by clicking on the small green bug icon - they appear on occasional pages. Once you have completed the question/s correctly, the bug will 'Go to sleep'.

You can then complete the book, 'Close It' and then 'Rate It' with a smiley, 'o.k' or sad face.

We will then continue to allocate new books as you complete your books and they move into your 'Library'.

We thought it would help to explain this to you, as some parents have been wondering why their child hasn't had any new books this week.

Keep enjoying the wonderful world of books! xx

Thursday 9th July, 2020

Good morning everybody!

Did you manage to play outside yesterday? It was  nice to have a bit of dry weather wasn't it? Let's hope there is some glorious sunshine on the way too! Well done to those of you who played Times Table Rockstars - I'm getting quicker everyday, myself!

Today we will be continuing with our question mark and shape work.

Have a wonderful day everyone, whether you are at school or at home.

We all have enormous smiles and are feeling very proud of you all!

Love from Mrs Darnton, Mrs Craddock & Mrs Stow and of course Mrs Ames & Mrs Platt xx heartheart

Here are your activities...

TIMES TABLES

Begin your day by warming up your brain. Have a go of Rockstars, Daily 10 or Hit the Button. Good luck!

MATHS

We are continuing with our work on shape.

Have a go at answering the 'Riddle Questions'. Write down the question numbers 1-15 in your books and see if you can write the name of the 2D or 3D shape the riddle is describing. How good are you at spelling the shape names correctly?

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: Can you match the 3D shape to its name?

GRAMMAR/PURPLEMASH

Your grammar today is on your 'To Dos' on Purplemash. I understand that you may have played this game before but I wanted you to remind yourselves of full stops, question marks and exclamation marks.

See if you can get a high score! Enjoy!

RE

Below you will find an RE lesson that Mrs Craddock set last week to be completed over the two weeks. I have included the document again so that you can now complete the activities. You will need an adult to help you with this if possible.

Monday 6th July 2020

Good morning to our wonderful Year 1!

How are you all today?

Have you all enjoyed the weekend break?

We had a very exciting time in the 'Darnton Household'...

It was time to release our beautiful 'Painted Lady Butterflies' into the wild (well, our back garden!)

We were waiting for a beautiful sunny day, but it didn't arrive, so we had to wait until it warmed up a little to release them. We were very surprised at how quickly they fluttered away, up into our tall trees. It was a beautiful sight to see! We hope they will be very happy and are looking out for them visiting us!

Time To Say Goodbye...

Still image for this video

We hope you are looking forward to this week, either at school or at home and we want you to know that we are all so very proud of each and every one of you! You are all FANDABYDOZY with ice cream AND cherries on top!

Have a great week from Mrs Darnton, Mrs Craddock & Mrs Stow and also Mrs Ames and Mrs Platt xx heart heart

Have a go of the quiz set in your Purplemash to-dos.

3 STARS = Most "Tricky" activity

Good luck!
