Good morning Year 1!

Are you all having a lovely week?

I’ve been having a look at some of your ‘Times Table Rock stars’ avatars – you’ve chosen some really fabulous names!

I’ve also added some new ‘To Do’s’ to Purple Mash – I was a whizz at the ‘odds and evens’ game when I had a go – see if you can win too!

Don’t forget all the other suggestions for activities on our main class page!

WRITING TASK:

Choose your most favourite story book and have a go at rewriting the story – but with a different ending!

It might be Cinderella – but she decides to marry one of Snow White’s Seven Dwarfs instead of Prince Charming…

It could be that Mrs Pepperpot shrinks in the story but this time does all sorts of ‘cheeky’ things….

Or could it be that the ‘Aliens Who Love Underpants’ finish the story wearing something completely different?

Use the original story to copy the setting, plot and characters but then have lots of fun changing what happens!

It might help you to use this 'Plot mapping' sheet (a PDF Lower down) to jot down a quick plan of the plot first!

Let your imagination run free! But don’t forget to be AMAZING writers…

  • Capital letters
  • Finger spaces
  • Full stops (or exclamation marks or question marks)
  • Beautiful, cursive handwriting

Wednesday 1st April

Good morning Class 1!

I hope you had a good day yesterday! Here are some new activities for you.

Your maths today is to work your way through the lessons on weight and mass. You can do them all in one go or spread them out and have a break in between. They don't all need to be done today as long as they are finished by the time you get your new maths activity next time. Try weighing some objects at home and try to guess which is heavier/lighter. Could you weigh ingredients to make a cake or follow a simple recipe?

Don't forget about reading each day. You can use your real books at home or go on Activelearn.

Purplemash is full of activities and don't forget the tasks from yesterday's to-do list. I look forward to seeing your work on toys and teddy bears!

Times Table Rockstars is a great way of practising your tables, especially your 2s, 5s and 10s. Give it a go!

I have put a few activities on MathSphere. I had a technical hitch yesterday so I will put on the  activity that I missed off. It is called MathSphere 1. They are all further down underneath yesterday's work.

And finally...don't forget to go back to our main class page for lots of other ideas and some links to other activities including art and music too if you want a change.

Happy learning today and thinking of you all.

Mrs Craddock smiley

Tuesday 31st March

Good morning Class 1,

I hope you are all ok and looking forward to today's tasks:

PURPLEMASH

Your challenge for today is to write about your favourite toy and then after that, you can draw your own teddy/toy. This work is on the to-do list on Purplemash. Once you have completed this, you could even write something about your toy in your books using your best joined handwriting or just practise writing every toy you can think of in your best joined handwriting like we do in school when we practise words. Don't forget the handwriting powerpoint is underneath to help you to form your letters properly.
