Monday 1st November 2021

Hi Class 2! I hope you have all enjoyed a lovely half term break! We have lots of very exciting things to look forward to over the next few weeks...

We will be reading the story 'The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark' during our English lessons and working towards writing our own non-chronological reports about owls - we may even have some special visitors coming to school who will help us with our writing...! In geography, our enquiry question is "How can predicting the weather save lives?" and in science we will be exploring the question "Why do polar bears live in the Arctic?".

We have another super busy half term and it will soon be time to begin our Nativity 2021 rehearsals which I know you are all very excited about! Please see below for your Autumn 2 Knowledge Organisers.

Hello Class 2!

Welcome back to school! I hope you have all enjoyed a lovely summer and I am looking forward to hearing about all of the fun things that you have done. We have lots of exciting new topics to look forward to in Y2! I have attached our Curriculum Map below which shows what we will be learning about each half term and key questions that we will be exploring throughout the year...smiley

Here is some information that you might find useful…

In Class 2, homework and spellings will be sent home every Tuesday and due the following Monday. We will have a quick spelling quiz each Monday. You will receive 1 piece of maths homework and 1 piece of English homework each week. These will be short tasks that should take no longer than 15-20 minutes to complete and will be linked to our learning in class.

Please make sure that you are reading daily at home and record this in your yellow reading record. These will be checked each week by myself or Mrs Marshall.

This half term, we will have PE on Wednesday afternoons. However, please make sure that your PE kits are in school each day in the event that there are any last minute timetable changes!

I am super excited about our new year together and I am very much looking forward to being your class teacher! If you have any questions or your parents are concerned about anything at all, please let me know! Year 2 is going to be a great year full of new things to learn about and share!
