Year 1

Spring Term 2022

A big hello and welcome back Class 1. We are so pleased to have you all back to begin a very exciting new term in Class 1.

Miss Delooze is very pleased to continue as your class teacher and Mrs Craddock can't wait to work with you again each Thursday and Friday. Mrs Stow will be here to support you each morning.

We have some fun things planned for you this term. In maths we will continue to work on number and place value but we are now looking at numbers to 20, so make sure you know your number bonds really well. We will put some interactive number games below for you to practise these.

Our class books will be 'The Lion Inside' and 'How to be a Lion' and we will let you know the other books after half term. You will love them!

Science lessons will be all about animals so there is such a lot to look forward to.

We will find out all about the UK in geography and will be doing self-portraits in art. Phew! And we've got history, phonics, PE, music, computing, RE and DT too!

We will let you know all about the trips that we have organised very shortly. They are linked to our topics and we know you'll really enjoy them. Watch this space!

We hope you have a wonderful term and we look forward to seeing you flourish! Remember that now you have had a term to settle in, we will be expecting you to not just follow the rules but to be much more independent too.

As always, if you are worried about anything at all, come and see us and we will try our very best to help you.

Here's to a great term!

PE will be on a Wednesday so make sure you have your PE kit in school at all times. When we do games, you will need something warm to put over your PE kit too. Make sure EVERYTHING is named. It makes our PE lessons so much easier!

Homework will go home each Tuesday and will need to be returned on or before the following Monday. We will alternate English and maths. It should take around 15 - 20 minutes to complete and will be linked to our work in class.

Spellings will go home each Friday and will be tested on a Friday too. Phonics lessons will take place daily.
