Autumn 1 Overview
A big welcome!
Hello Class R,
We would love to welcome you to our St Matthew’s school family! This is such an exciting time for you and your families at the very start of your learning journey’s! We will do our utmost to ensure the transition to school is as smooth as possible for you all!
Our Teddy Bear’s Picnic will be on Wednesday 3rd September from 1.30 - 2.30pm. Remember to bring a teddy to this if you wish- maybe your St Matthew's teddy. You do not need to wear school uniform to this. Here you will get a chance to spend some time with your buddies and other children from your class.
School will start on Thursday 4th September and your child will be in for either a morning or an afternoon session. Just as a reminder, the session times are outlined below:
Morning session 9am - 11.30am
Afternoon session 12.30 - 3pm
The week commencing Monday 8th September, all children will be in full time.
There will be water and milk available throughout the day and children are able to help themselves to this to ensure they say hydrated and ready to learn!
PE sessions will take place on a Wednesday afternoon so please on these days send your child into school wearing their PE kits. PE will start week commencing 17th September. The children will not require water bottles as we have fresh water and milk available during the day.
We have so many exciting things planned in to look forward to for the term and to find out about the fun activities and lessons which will be taking place, you can have a read of the EYFS curriculum overview below where this is all outlined.
When we begin, our focus will be on ensuring that the children feel happy and settled. We will be taking part in lots of PSHE activities and we will be spending some time reading some particular books- Dragons Don't Share and A Little Bit Brave.
Above is a list of lovely reading books should you want to do any reading activities at home with your child.
