Key Instant Recall Fact Sheets Reception
Welcome to EYFS
Hello Reception,
We would love to welcome you to our St Matthew’s school family! This is such an exciting time for you and your families as you begin your learning journey. We will do our utmost to ensure that the transition to school is as smooth as possible for everyone.
Our Teddy Bear’s Picnic will be on Thursday 3rd September from 1:30–2:30pm. Remember to bring a teddy bear if you would like to! You do not need to wear school uniform for this event, although you are welcome to if you wish. This will be a wonderful opportunity to spend some time with your buddies.
School will start on Friday 4th September, and your child will attend a half-day session. Children may wish to wear uniform for this.
From the week commencing Monday 7th September, all children will attend school full-time and be in their school uniform.
Water and milk will be available throughout the day, and children will be able to help themselves to ensure they stay hydrated and ready to learn. Children may also bring in a water bottle; however, please ensure that it is clearly labelled.
If your child is bringing a packed lunch or snack, please make sure that these are clearly labelled and that you make the class teacher aware at drop-off. This helps to limit any confusion throughout the day.
We have so many exciting things planned for the term. To find out more about the fun activities and lessons that will be taking place, please read the EYFS curriculum overview below, where everything is outlined.
We will begin with lots of settling-in activities, and we will be reading the following books: Dragons Don’t Share and A Little Bit Brave. Following this, we will start our English text, The Gingerbread Man, which links to our topic on fairy stories.
We can’t wait to see all of your smiling faces in school! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
