Spring Term

Welcome to Year 6, your last year of Primary school!
This year is going to be full of lots of hard work, perseverance and FUN! I am thrilled to be with you on the last part of your Primary school journey.
Upcoming trip:
We have a residential trip to CMC Adventure on the 11th-13th March, where we will be taking part in all kinds of outdoor activities!
PE
PE will take place on a Friday with our sports coach Mr Aspinall. The year will consist of games activities, health and fitness activities, dance and gymnastics. Children will come in wearing their PE kits on a Friday.
Homework
Children should read at least 3 times per week. On a Tuesday, maths, grammar or reading comprehension homework will be given out. This should be handed in on the following Monday at the latest. Reading diaries should be written in each time you have read and signed by an adult. These will be collected and checked on a Friday morning. Finally, spellings plus the activity should be completed each week. We will have a spelling test on a Tuesday morning which will test the spellings of the previous week.
As always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

Assessment
In Year 6, we take the SATs tests in May. This year, they will be taken between Monday 11th - Thursday 14th May 2026.
We will do plenty of work in school to prepare you for these tests, but it is important that you engage fully with your homework at home to support your learning. Closer to the time, we will have extra-curricular SATs booster sessions for any of you who would like a little bit more help.
