Ofsted Reports
The school was inspected on 11th and 12th March 2025
I am pleased to share with you a copy of our most recent Ofsted inspection report. We are incredibly proud of the outcomes and judgements, and we are deeply grateful to our staff, children, families, and wider community for their unwavering support and commitment to St Matthew’s. It is because of this shared dedication that our school continues to “Shine Bright” and “Aim High.” We hope that as you read the report, you see these values reflected in the life of our school—through visits, the children’s work, and the learning they engage in every day.
We are particularly proud of the following comments from the report:
“Pupils love coming to Stretton St Matthew’s. They arrive each morning keen to see what the day has to offer.”
“Relationships between pupils and staff are warm and caring.”
“From the early years upwards, children and pupils are highly attentive in class [...] Pupils’ behaviour is exemplary.”
“The school recognises that reading is the foundation for learning across the curriculum. […] Pupils have a love of reading and older pupils talk confidently about literature that they enjoy.”
“The school has thought very carefully about its curriculum. It meets the needs of pupils exceptionally well. Staff’s strong subject knowledge enables them to teach confidently.”
“The academic curriculum is complemented by a range of opportunities for pupils to enrich their learning.”
“Pupils are helped to develop as young citizens. They take part in local and global fundraising activities. Pupils are taught about fundamental British values.”
“Pupils develop an understanding of others including those who hold different points of view or beliefs. Consequently, pupils welcome everyone equally.”
“The school prioritises staff’s workload and well-being. The school has created an environment in which staff are happy and proud to work.”
St Matthew’s is a highly successful school and one that I am incredibly privileged to lead. We are on a journey of continuous improvement for the benefit of our children and community. Ofsted cannot measure everything—such as the passion, enthusiasm, and talent of our staff, the strength of our community connections, and the Christian ethos that underpins our school and church links. These are aspects I care deeply about, and I remain committed to nurturing and developing these wonderful strengths.
Once again, we are thrilled with the report and judgements. Please be assured that our skilled and dedicated team remains firmly focused on continuous improvement for every child in our care.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss the report further, please don’t hesitate to contact the school to arrange an appointment.
