Through high-quality teaching and well-planned professional development opportunities, we help children develop the key skills, attitudes and aspirations they need for future success. This includes teamwork, communication, critical thinking, problem solving and self-management skills, that prepare them not only for the next stage of their education but also for their future roles in society. 

Our pupils are encouraged to take ownership of their learning, set personal goals, and reflect on their progress, developing independence and a growth mindset. We inspire them to think about their futures through enterprise projects, community links and experiences that broaden their understanding if the world of work and responsibility. 

We place great importance on wellbeing, ensuring that every child feels safe, supported and happy at school. Emotional literacy, resilience and positive relationships are promoted throughout daily life at St Matthew's. 

Children enjoy a wide range of sporting opportunities including team games, fitness clubs and interschool competitions, helping the children to develop teamwork, perseverance and a love of physical activity.

We also nurture leadership skills and pupils voice through roles such as School Council, Wellbeing Ambassadors, House Captains and Global Citizens. These opportunities empower pupils to take responsibility, influence school life and develop confidence as active members of our community.
