Blended Approach to Homework

Blended Approach:

We use a blended approach to home learning to ensure the children have the opportunity to record work in exercise books and also online as part of the Class Team on Microsoft Teams.  The children all have access to a log in for Microsoft Teams and they can use this to access their Class Team and the home learning set by their teacher.

We encourage children to log onto Class Teams regularly to see any posts made by their class teacher and to check what work has been set.  The children will also have a homework book that they will use in addition to their online work.

Consistency

Homework will be given to children on a Tuesday and collected the following Monday with the exception of spellings/phonics which are issued differently dependent on class.

Children should be encouraged to discuss any problems they are having with their teacher. It is not acceptable for children to struggle excessively, causing upset at home. Obtaining parental support is of paramount importance.

Homework will:

  • Increase as children get older
  • Be interesting and relevant to the class work
  • Be encouraged by a positive approach
  • Encourage parents to support their children’s work by providing where possible a

              quiet undisturbed environment

  • Be marked by the class teacher/team member

Following these guidelines will help children to develop independence, realise their full potential and prepare them for the next stage in their education.
